Col Jirayr Zorthian, April 14, 1911-January 6, 2004 was born Kutahya Turkey, of Armanian parents. He demonstrated considerable artistic talent at age three. Once he and his family were granted entrance in the United States. They settled in New Haven, Connecticut. Continuing his formal training in painting, drawing, and architecture. He graduated from Yale and was granted a fellowship to the American Academy in Rome. Zorthian's tremendous artistic contrabutions range from giant murals to architecture to drawing and painting.
